Free cell phones in Alaska

There are two ways to qualify for a free cell phone: 1) Your income is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or 2) You already participate in one of many government aid programs.

Program-Based Qualification

You are eligible for free cell phones, if you receive benefits from any of these programs in Alaska:

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamps
  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
  • Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance (BIA)
  • Tribal Head Start If you meet the income qualifying standards
  • Tribal Administered Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
  • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)

Income-Based Qualification

You may also qualify for free cell phones, if your Total Household Income is at or under 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. The table below reflects the latest Federal Poverty Guidelines in Alaska:
